Hope, Dediction…. and Achievement

By admin • Apr 12th, 2009 • Category: egypt, egyptian, ethics, values

What is happening to Egyptians; our valuable traits have changed; we are becoming more and more careless, chaotic and de-motivated. Everything is moving negatively. These negative feelings and traits are not related to a certain age group or a certain social standard;  it is actually becoming innate in most of the people the results of which have affected productivity and development.

Our standards have changed where it has become the norm not to be proactive, productive or organized.  Is it the water we drink, or the food we eat?  Is our lives so polluted that we are being pulled backward instead of moving forward.  What social and cultural changes have overcome the Egyptian society that we are losing all our Egyptian defined traits of dedication, kindness, perseverance and jolly.

We are even losing our famous sense of humor and the cracking of jokes.  You get in a cab or a bus and you only hear complains about life, the traffic, the kids and the government instead of the latest jokes about the political situation.  We used to make jokes of our government, ourselves and anyone in our way, it does not exist anymore.  People are depressed, sad and de-motivated.
Is it poverty, oppression, unfairness? This feeling of dissatisfaction and un-fulfillment is prevailing.  Why this feeling of hopelessness is so overwhelming?  Let us forget about yesterday because there is no point in crying over spilled milk, but what about tomorrow? We should have hope in our future and dedicated ourselves achieve our goals and achieve happiness.

In addition, we are moving  towards general extremism, and it is taking over our way of living, and the media is not helping to decrease this antagonistic feeling among people by stressing on day to day issues in religion, politics and other sensitive issues that increase the differences in opinions instead of bringing all Egyptians together.  Where did the role of science and scientific logic in dealing and tackling our problems go, where is the role of Education, healthy debates to bring people closer.  We have to start thinking positively and deal with one day at a time with our eyes on a bright future for our children.

Egypt will always prevail.
